Italy has it all.

Fashion – think Gucci, Prada, Armani, the list goes on.

Cars – think the world’s most epic speedsters; Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini.

Art – Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, need we mention more?

But you can’t dish any of these things up on a plate (we tried – the Lambo fell off). The real sweet spot (and why we amore Italy the most) is the food. Mainly the PIZZA! Mamma mia the best pizza in the world comes from Italy and we’re gonna show you where to get it…

Naples/Napoli

Ahh Napoli. Imagine tucking into the best goddamn pizza in the world. Dreams really can come true. Find it at L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele where their motto is high-quality ingredients only. No junk, just pure good sh*t. Don’t worry about being stuck on what to get as there are only 2 options on the table – Margherita or Marinara. Their motto is if it ain’t broke don’t fix it (or add extra toppings to it). Fair dinkums. We’ll let you be the judge.

Rome/Roma

Bella Roma. What a place. After a day of hitting up some 3000-year-old ancient wonders like the Colosseum, chowing down on a pizza tastes pretty great. Rome’s ranked up there with Naples for the best pizza in Italy, so we dig this city for a slice (or ten) of the good stuff. When in Rome, you’d be silly not to try a gorge Italian pizza pocket, known as trapizzino. These pizza pockets are packed full of rich, Italian goodness so you won’t wanna miss out. We’ve found the 5 staple flavours across Rome (you’re welcome, btw):

Parmigiana di Melanzane (eggplant loaded with parmesan)

Polpetta al Sugo (meatballs with sauce)

Doppia Panna (gooey burrata and anchovies)

Pollo alla Cacciatora (hunter’s chicken)

… And the weird but wonderful Lingua in Salsa Verde (veal tongue in green sauce)

We head to Rome on a lot of our European trips so why not try one of these total tradish pockets of goodness then?

Florence/Firenze

This city got it all: Uffizi Gallery. Ponte Vecchio. Piazza della Signoria. The Duomo. But what they also got is pretty damn good pizza (and gelato!). Florence is pretty much just food heaven. Their signature style is a thin crust, so unless you like your pizzas thicc, Firenze is where it’s at. Just over half an hour away you can wash that pizza down with a wine tasting at one of the world’s most famous vineyards in Chianti. You get the option to head to the hills and swig this wine on our Delve Deep: Italy trip so why not check it out?

There you have it. Why munch a pizza at home when you could munch Italian pizza underneath the Colosseo with some new buds and a cold Italian brew? Our mixture of trip styles means there’s something for everyone; go hard on our fast-paced Get Social: Mega European trip or take it in at your own pace on our Play and Pause: Intro to Europe trip.

Ciao for now and we hope to see you in bella Italia!
